The pink ribbon logo will appear on all new knitting patterns and pattern books from July 1st and all reprints of existing knitting patterns and books. Every knitting pattern/book sold after this date even if it doesn’t show the pink ribbon logo will have a donation made.
The decision to support this charity was made through the conception of a new pattern folder that King Cole had decided to change. The previous Sales & Marketing Manager wanted to change the design and the colour so he asked our CEO Mike Wilson for his colour choice. He picked bright pink so it would stand out in the shop. When the sample arrived the vivid colour reminded Mike of the pink ribbon logo and gave him the idea to support a breast cancer charity. He then researched various charities to support and the pink ribbon foundation was selected.
This decision was made because all of the money raised goes to the cause and not to their administration fees which is paid separately by companies through direct donation. This is the same for Children In Need, a charity King Cole have supported for 9 years through the sale of their Pudsey Bear patterns, 100% of the profit from these patterns goes straight to Children In Need and we have raised over £50,000 so far.
